ya worst greens played on all year, big problems between staff and committee I was told,
no one turned up sat to work so dew was left on greens and hollowtining them 10 days before one of if not there biggest event seemed a little sad
would have expected qualifying score for each day to be printed on yesterdays paper,
the least you'd expect after paying to enter a competition is to find out the scores that were good enough or what you missed out by ??

as the phone isn't being answered...021-4381022.
    poor form.

I eventually found out the cut was 80

Step away from the hobby horse.

Top Golfer events in Rosslare and Enniscorthy are €25 for 36 and €20 for 18 holes (in an upcoming Junior Cup venue).

some of the top golfer events seem a bit odd, for example there are junior scratch & senior scratch cups on in concra wood & south county together and both are the same entrance fee yet the ssc's are 36 hole while the jsc's are 18 hole. wonder is this just an error on the website?

If you put your name down for the senior scratch and go back out to 4 can you play in the junior scratch?

Don't see a problem there Huntelaar but let me check with Coinman...

Confirmed. You can play in the JSC. Good luck.

I am in a similar boat now...Out from 3-4 at the weekend so gave them a call and they said its fine. Few lads on junior time sheet will now be playing senior as well

This may seem like a stupid question but if your handicap is over 18 can you play in the scratch cup in the club you are a member?

I believe there is a waiting list of ~40 for the Senior due to the Barton Shield being played in Lucan in early June.

Saw a few of the names to play and looks like it will have a field to match Laytown.

    Course in good condition?

If there's space on the timesheet for the intermediate, they will et you play. You could always look at Minor scratch cups tho.

Just got a bad run of .1's back so at 18.5, i'll be looking at doing afew of those instead of the inter's i had ear marked in the summer.

Greens were a bit rough 3 weeks ago but they've been improving quickly. Didn't play the weekend but I'd say all they need is a roll and they'll be very quick.

You can play being off 19. Primarily its a Gross score comp, stroke-play, with everyone playing off scratch for the day. There is generally a secondary nett score prize for the higher qualifying handicap competitors.

Very tough in Lucan today withthat wind, unreachable par 4's and some crazy pins.

Course in great condition though, best greens I've played on in a long time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 391 ✭✭Paulusmaximus

Yeah Lucan was in great condition today, greens were pristine and were quick. Wind and some crazy pin positions made it extremely tough.

Saying that, some pins where stupid, missing a 4-6 foot putt and having a 20 footer back is wrong, in my opinion anyway!

Enjoyed the day and the course and looking forward to playing it in the Shield later in the year.

    Lucan Scratch Cup Results

    Senior:
    Richard O'Donovan (+1 ,Lucan) 150 (79, 71)
    Craig McEvoy (1, Lucan) 151
    John J Kelly (1, Lucan) 153

    Junior:
Michael Delaney (4, Beech Park) 160
    Barry McAuley (9, Lucan) 161
    Jamie McNamara (4, xxx) 161

Just back from the presentation and the general consensus was that today's conditions were the most difficult anyone can remember. The greens were measured at 12 on the stimpmeter this morning. Add the very strong east wind and the scores were always going to be high.

Disappointed that a few so-called "internationals" NR'ed in the first round and fecked off in order to protect their hcap.

Thanks to AGC and Paulus for their support.

Thanks Madds...shot myself out of it in the 1st round.

Were they both non counting or what was the story with standard scratch?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,887 ✭✭✭madds

AFAIK both rounds were non-counting AGC but if you give the pro shop a call tmw on 628-0246 they will confirm.
