As long as there are brave men and women who believe that Laois should be given back to its rightfull owners, this thread will never be silent........Boo you javagal for trying to put a refresher bar in the mouth of free speech!!!!!!

Aw Laois isn't the worst county in Ireland! I've had many a good session there!

Having travelled to the majority of counties, I'd have to say Cavan seems to have the least going for it. Or possibly Sligo......

We are definitely not selling Donegal (great spot for surfing!) or Galway (can't beat a walk in Salthill). My favourite places on our green isle!

    Coming in late here BUT

sometimes I hear people pronounce Portlaoise as port-leesh-a
    other times port-leesh

    which is right?

Ive been thinking about this a lot lately.
In these days of economic uncertainty has the day come that we should finally sell Laois back to its rightfull owners......The Amazon Forest People??

Sell Offaly too. We don't want Biffo country.

Sell it off, who wants the Queen's county
And there are plenty of characters in Portlaoise that Ireland won't miss

Ah come on, we can't sell the Faithful County.
Sell Offaly and you may as well sell Bord na Mona while you are at it

    Correct pronunciation is Maryborough :pac:

port-leesh is fine, what most use
Used to be known as Port Laoighise which correct name but not many use it, RTÉ do it I suppose

I'll put it this way, Dublin Bus go to Dún Laoghaire but most say Dunleary.

    Your port-leesh will do fine

Bord na Mona? Pfft! We'll build a Nuclear power plant in Wexford to make up for our losses.

We should definately not sell Laois.
Instead we should sell the younger generation. Every second person between 20 and 30 should be rounded up and shot sold.
Their a renewable resource too and lets face it they are a bunch of useless spoiled wasters anyhow.

I say we shouldn't sell off Laois. Come on, Ireland is a country of 32 counties. It wouldn't be the same with just 31. Unless you're planning to cut County Tipperary in two...

    Now that's an idea...

You'll spark off a war bigger then the Korean War.
The British separated Tipperary in the 19th century for a reason

All hail our glorious leader, the Supreme and all knowing Michael Lowry
We'll crush Mattie McGrath and his band of rebels down south!

I'll buy it, then i can set up a nice little toll on the road that the vast majority off goods being transported by truck need to travel down as they move from West to East and vice versa.

    Sco!
