    Hi,
I'm sure someone here will be able to help me :).

I was talking to a guy over Christmas, and he was talking about a trip he had to the Isle of Wight. Now, i probably misheard, but i thought he said that he got a Ferry there, from Ireland. Is that possible? (Really hoping it is), and if so, where from?
    For Bestival :D:D

There are a number of routes, the quickest is from Portsmouth IIRC, although it's a good few years since I did the trip regularly.

There's also a hovercraft (for foot passengers only) from Southsea which is a great way to travel.

Yep, would love to try the hovercraft.

Been talking to the other people that are going, and i think we're going to drop the car, fly to Southampton or thereabouts, and catch a ferry over from there.

    Thanks everyone. :)

There is a ferry which takes cars from Lymington, near Southhampton. There a rail link up to the ferry departure. It goes to Yarmouth and is a short crossing (20 mins??). It is a nice place but to travel onward from there is a public bus but it takes a very long time to get to other side of island and main town as it wanders in and out of all sorts of places. It was a blistering hot day so we got off at first beach and spent time there and bussed back... we were just doing a day trip. Bus trip was worth the views from top deck.
