I think I'll just head out earlier tonight and if we get kicked out at 12 then so be it!

Of course people can go one day without drinking but it's the principle......why should everyone be forced to stay at home because of some silly old-fashioned law.

The nightclubs here in Dundalk are advertising business as usual so I guess i'll have to take there word :)

Of course they can. Its just people looking for something else to moan about. Havent you noticed that the people on Boards (well more specifically After Hours) are never happy unless they're moaning and complaining about anything and everything.

I actuly firmly belive its not a case that people can not go with out drink, but that the choice of buying it, or spending the afternoon/evening the pub has been taken away from them.

Not just boardies, but people generally.

It's mad to think, two days a year you can't buy alcohol, and the whole place goes mad to try and stock up.

Any excuse for a piss up ;)

    Stock up on alchohol.

    That is all.

Seriously, every year we get a bajingo of threads "ah Q_Q i couldnt buy booze 1 day out of the year" or some such malarky. Come on now, just, get out there and buy your booze ahead of time; at least that way when you're making threads to rabble about how the government takes away your freedom to buy what you want on a religious holiday you can at least be drunk while you do so! The End. Cue Applause. Come on now. Don't be shy.

A lot of Friday evenings, I like to partake of a wee drink or eight, but not every single Friday. Some Fridays I could take it or leave it.

However, even the thought of Good Friday makes me thirsty. It gives me the feeling of dryness at the back of my throat that could only be compared to how a hooker's box must feel like after a long weekend of non-stop humping.

So what is it about Good Friday that makes people feel this way? Is it God's way of getting people to go out on a Thursday for a change, or is there a more logical explanation?

the system says you cant drink on GF, so your brain goes oh no? we'll see about that. its the rebel in us...or something

    This will be me tomorrow:

Customer: Why aren't you selling alcohol today?
    Me: Because it's Good Friday.
    Customer: *blank expression*

    x100

It's a stupid law that nobody really cares about except on the day, after which everyone forgets about it.

Same reason why women want men who are already taken

Forty bottles of Carlsberg and a load of steak for the BBQ.

Thank God for Off Licence Thursday.

I was just out buying some for a house party tonight but you'd swear the places weren't open till Tuesday. People with trolley's just full of scoops. A shít load of people will probably drink fúck all of what they buy today tomorrow.

Dammit, I meant to go in to gawk at all the people panicking and stockpiling alcohol. Wonder if the rush is still on going in tescos.

I dunno if i got enough. After this case, and the other case, there's only one case left!

No need, heading up to the in-laws, my father in-law is a publican. Nice draught Guinness, no need for the canned muck. The one day of the year I really love my in-laws

The government add salt to the air starting from tonight....that's why you'll have the thirst of Jesus on you tomorrow.
I think the disciples used to go for a few scoops on good Friday...kind of a tribute to J C...

Maybe somebody will post up how long into the weekend their "emergency" drink stash lasted.
From some of the replies here I'd say the June bank holiday.

No, most people probably wouldn't bother drinking if it was a nomal Friday - it's just the fact that we can't purchase alcohol that makes us so thirsty!
