HTC desire mobile netwrok shortcup and calender

hi there, i cant seem to find the mobile network shortcut for my home screen so i can turn the 3g on and off, i have to go into setting / wireless blah blah,, anyone know of any of these without having to spend money on apps? also. when i try to add an event to my calender, it says "you have no calendars" how do i fix this…

what version 2.1/2/3 are you running?

Running 2.2. I can find everything except there 3g button. Power controls doesn't have it
