Hi, I have a 22 year old corrolla, I've been told it won't pass her next NCT due to the level of rust on the undercarriage, the Nct people told me I should get it done and get it done well before it's next test which is in 2012. But I'm terrified off putting money into her and have something else fail, I don't think it's worth sinking money into it at this age....any thoughts?

Fix it and keep it. It would be a shame to let it go now.. Got any pics of it?

The only thing that really goes wrong with those Corollas is rust. Just don't forget about the timing belt :) Replacement 2E engines must be fairly easy/cheap to get even if something does go wrong with that...

The car pre-dates catatlytic converters and other things that could cause expensive NCT failures. It's got to the age where it will start appreciating in value if kept in good condition.

the timing belt was done 10,000 miles ago, It hasn't missed one service in all 22 years, sadly the only thing killling the car is rust.
