Ice-Cream Trucks

The ice-cream season is in full swing. Over the past couple of days 3 ice cream vans have visited my estate DAILY! One around lunch, one around 3/4pm and the third one comes around now (6.30pm). It must be a fairly profitable business :D Do you think its a bit excessive?

Whats it like in other parts of the country? Do you find them a nuisance?

mate of mine's family has a couple of vans...

Never realised before, but its a cut throat industry with boundaries within areas etc.

Told me once that his cousin went into one of his other cousins estates once and ended up being threatened by that cousin at knifepoint to stay the f**k away from his areas lol.

    Made me laugh :P

The decent Ice Cream Machines cost about 20K. Thats a lotta 99's before ye make a profit!

I did an Ambulance duty at a community day a few weeks back and there was a huge queue all day long for the ice-cream van, it was madness but the kids all wanted their ice-cream. The guy running it had a license to print money that day and was as happy as a pig in ****. :D

I'd love a 99 now, how much they cost these days? Last one I had was down The Curragh last summer but no doubt, like most things on a racecourse, I Was woefully overcharged!

Small cones are as little as €1. Flakes are usually 20c extra

I've heard they are very strict on their terrority.
If you set up a van OP and started in the area, the existing lads would soon pay you a visit

I wouldn't mind so much but it sets off all our neighbours dogs howling and I think we're the only house in a 2 mile radius with no dog.

I love whipped ice cream but I wouldn't buy from vans unless I was really craving it. There were vans at electric picnic manned by completely unqualified ice cream men! As someone who can do whipped ice cream I was shocked by the sub par wrist action! I demand professionalism! <insert wrist action joke here>

I know I'm being harsh here, but the only thing I hate about ice cream vans is that a lot of parents kick up such a fuss because they don't know how to say no to their kids. If your kids go mad and throw tantrums every time they see an ice cream, that's not the vans fault.
