Well as above, have any reporters ever gotten in touch with you, by PM or otherwise, about one of your posts?

I have...and I'm not sure whether to sell the story or not. I'm no fan of (tabloid) journalists, so that's hindering my decision.

So, what would you do? Have you ever been approached?

Would they allow that? If so, I'll be doing it!

Regardless of what any journalist says, they'll just print what they like. Whether that affects you positively or negatively they won't give a ****.

The NOTW been after me for years, trying to say I fix races and the like, even the BHA got involved but it was thrown out of court!

Had enough of the tabloids to last me a lifetime!

Nope, I'm the only person who reads my posts anyways.

You can't just tell us something like that and NOT tell us what the post was!

    *pulls up chair*

    So?.............

Yeah I have thought about that aspect of their 'integrity'. And have also mentioned it to them. But I have said I want everything in writing - so if I do go ahead with it, would they be 'contractually' obliged by this agreement?

The Bank Letter, FTW? Probably the Sun. ask for at least a grand off them. If you have the letter 2.5k. No joke.

Yes - to ask permission to quote it. No problems with it really, in fact the journo made it clear within the thread who they were and that they were looking for opinion on something.

I've never been directly contacted but another website I use featured fairly heavily in an article and posts were quoted.
I've heard topics that were discussed on boards on a particular day get discussed on radio talk shows and stuff but I dont recall ever hearing specific user names mentioned.

My post about a certain bank calling me a 'cúnt'. But then again, I don't really want to be getting involved with journalists, so maybe best to tell me to fook off.

... and then change your username to Dr. Bollocko.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

I've been quoted in some Sunday tabloid apparently. Didn't see it myself but another user told me.

    Something about Chatroulette I think.

    But nobody contacted me beforehand.

    The b*stards.

That's the one. I have the letter and everything else - 2.5k? Really?

They have ways of saying things without "saying" them. Like "It was Alleged that..." They can quote out of context etc etc.... They are very adept at twisting stories, this is their job.

If you do decide to go ahead with it, just remember the output is out of your control and you have no comeback.

I posted something on a facebook site and got a journalist contacting my husband and brother over it as I had my profile set to private (it was in connection with illness) - I did not like the way that she hastled my family and cut all links with that particular site.

I saw that in the paper. I was the one who told IvySlayer about you and his/her posts being quoted!!!

I know of a guy who got a grand for some made up bull**** once he produced a picture. One internet search later and voila, €1000.

Worth a shot. Just bear in mind Journos for red tops are no playthings.

No-one ever remembers the little boys name, only that he put his finger in a dyke.
