Good editor for highlighting lines in a txt doc?

Hi, I am looking to set up textpad to highlight lines in a text doc with lines that begin with for example Er 20 or Wr 20 I have looked in preferences and to configure a syntax file but I just cant get my head around it. Can anyone help? Even suggest another notepad style editor to do the above Thanks Gar

Try Notepad++, it's free and does this, when you highlight a text pattern it highlights all of the same pattern throughout document. Also comes with ability to load plugins etc. and there are loads already developed capturing a host of features if required.
