In fairness how many sports are actually unisex?

It's a disgrace. I'm going to boycott Flora.

Anything involving horses, racing, showjumping, cross-country, dressage, etc.. Both male and female riders and male and female horses compete in the same events.

And I don't know why things like Snooker and Darts aren't combined sports<?> Unless they figure funbags are a hinderance for throwing arms and cue actions and are waiting for an Amazon to apply to join the tournaments.

    Probably because they aren't sports.

In other words - not many

Bothers me that they call it a mini marathon and most participants can't even run it all.

    True

I can see this protest spreading quite easily.

I does annoy me as I would like to do the race sometime but only if my husband ran it with me - if these were more family events it would be more fun.
    :eek::confused: Why?

Don't think family events would work. Babies and prams aren't designed for 10km runs.

Be a woman and run on your own, it's for a good cause!

I have a young son who would have to be minded for the time of the race, am also a type 1 diabetic who is not used to exercise by myself, am also heavily pregnant and a 4 year oesopgageal cancer survivor, I would like to do the race at a future stage but would need support doing it. There are some more friendly shorter races that I am considering in the future that are family friendly.

I think it would be hugely petty to kick up a fuss about the mini-marathon. Women can be very insecure about their physique / fitness, so if they're more comfortable with a women's only event - for charity remember - then why not. For the bast majority of participants, it's not a sporting event anyway, it is a nice stroll around Dublin during the summer. People should pick their battles when it comes to "equality" issues.
This is whole women demand membership of Portmarnock Golf Club, men denied entry to Curves debate again

They didn't though (demand membership). The equality authority brought Portmarnock to court, even though they had not received a single complaint from the public.

    Thanks for the correction
Shower of busy bodies. The same group who brought Ryanair to court for putting "young" in the job adverts.

Chief Executive resigned in 2008 and went crying to the media
One quango that have good aims and just ruined their reputation

It's not sexist, it is discriminatory though. The two are very different.

It's discriminatory on the basis of sex. The very definition of sexist.

But it's also minute, uninteresting, boring, insignificant and dull.

tl;dr: Sexist? yes? But the man, all men, don't give a ****.

Don't men dress up as women anyway?

Once you pay the entry fee, you'll still get the medal at the end

We are a group of women doing the mini marathon. however we have a group of guys who now wish very much to fundraise also for our chosen charity...

but if we register them we have to say they are women and they then cant pick up their race number

how do we get around this please ? They really do want to do it and raise some money...

    thanks

Best of luck with it. Although, are there no girlfriends you could rope in to running with you for support?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    Real men run marathons.

    Women run minimarathons.

Guess that makes me a real man then. :pac:

I'd actually love to see a mixed race on the Women's Mini-Marathon course, it's a very fast 10k course - and it might help to destroy the horrible "death by pink" expo.
