I have one of these routers which I had from a previous UPC install and I would like to use it in my new house, where I just have the Scientific Atlanta modem(I didn't want to pay an extra €50 for a wireless router I already paid 50 for some time last year). Just plugging the cable into the back of the router doesn't seem…

You can't use your own modem, UPC must provision it.
