personally I find out by a combination of methods, firstly this forum is great, also when I enter a competition i join companies mailing lists so get emailed updated info that often includes competitions, also on Facebook I check out the adverts on the right hand side (and 'like' a lot of Irish companies and hotels as they often have FB comps).

I agree with the original poster that there are fewer big prizes out there, but I've found that I am equally happy with lots of small prizes, like today 2 x books from 2 separate competitions, total value about €20, but its so nice to get something for free.
I also strongly dislike the facebook 'likes' competitions, they are skewered towards certain people happy to trawl through their address book!
I've won about €1300 worth of stuff so far this year, biggest was 3 months entry to see unlimited numbers of movies at a cinema, smallest was some money off vouchers for glenisk yoghurts! But in there are about 20 books, some I'd have bought myself, others I wouldn't have looked at, but have enjoyed reading.
I agree that just entering regularly does help - i still maintain I'm not lucky, just prepared to enter 5-10 comps a day (if I can find them).
    :D

Just out of interest, are the majority of compers on here males or females? I'm a male and have won a good bit over the last few years (two years ago €4000) worth of goodies and about €300 worth this year.

Do you post the comps you find up here? Not to sound like a kill joy but seems alot of people dont seem to post comps up here but are winning alot.

I set aside 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening to find & enter competitions & check my emails, then to look back through the whole newsfeed on facebook to see if ive won anything or if any comps have been posted during the day.
It sometimes takes me 30 minutes to scroll down over 8 hours of newsfeed & read everything, as Ive over 1500 likes on facebook so alot of them have something to say (not always of interest).
From there I find competitions, I never look on google or search elsewhere, if I see a new product on an ad I try remember to search for it on facebook next time im on. Ive added random hotels from around the country, some have active fb pages others dont.
I dont always have time to get on here to log in to post links to competitions within the 30 minutes, thats my biggest problem!
I rarely enter the ones posted here anymore. I think alot of people read this thread and dont post on it, therefore alot more are entering than we think. I think the chances are higher on facebook comps too.

    It depends....
How good is the hotel on offer, and how big is the dog!
    :D:D:D

PS: Just reading your previous answer, I was just wondering about whether there are any equivalent FB groups that list comps? have you come across any?
I've been luck on FB this year, Glenisk / Easons / Bord Gais / Gollancz are some of the regulars for comps.

Ive not come across any groups on facebook, maybe we should set up our own and make it an add as friend group. Rather than a like page that is viewable to everyone.
Regular ones which run competitions on facebook are
    Womans Way
    Hippo and duck at silentnight
    The Counter Ireland
    Dundrum town centre
    Pavilions Shopping centre
Best Western Academy Plaza Hotel run one for every lotto draw at the moment. You have to guess the bonus ball and if you do you win 100 euro accomodation voucher. I won it last week.
Conway Communications on facebook are only new but have run two in the last month or so.

    Hope this helps.
