Film Equipment Rental ?

I will be filming a short film soon and was trying to find somewhere that i could rent a boom mic + pole etc and maybe a dolly for a week for cheaper than places like Filmbase. Or is that as cheap as it is ? Cause at that rate i may aswell just buy the stuff.
