Information is something that's derived from dah-ta.
Dah-ta itself is simply the raw material that exists before being processed to provide information.

I get my pronunciations from the following sources:
Data - Picard, TNG "sleep... Day-tah"
Status - That killer robot thingy from Judge Dredd "Stay-tus"

This post got lots of thanks but can someone explain it me? :o

    Data and Lore?

'Data' is the name of a character in the Star Trek TNG tv show. He has an 'evil twin/brother' called 'Lore'.

    Data and Lore?

And to add to what CrazyRabbit said, in a film, he (Data) discovered that he has another "brother" called "B-4".

Also, Lore and Date are not twins in the slightest. Lore was the first android of Data's type (as in appearance and the likes) to be built (in Star Trek:TNG) but Data was created because
Lore was able to feel emotions and the colonists were jealous (or more likely Lore had a superiority complex); Data was then created, without the ability to feel emotion.

I don't remember the full story of B-4, though, if there even was a story.
Oh, the spoiler is just explaining how Data and Lore are "brothers". It'll probably spoil like 10 seconds of the episode where it's said.

It's actually kind of hard to say "that-ah". I've no idea why you'd pronounce it like that. I pronounce it like da - ta.

    Of course then, there's po-tayto and po-tahto.

that "That-ah" pronunciation just reminded me of the way Counsellor Troi on Star Trek TNG would pronounce "Data", except her pronunciation is more like "Theta", a letter of the greek alphabet!

    anyway, envelope or onvelope? :D

No 'Dah-ha' option. A cod of a poll.
