How do you pronounce "Data"?

Quick question,

In general every day conversation, how do you pronounce the word "Data"

Personally, I go with "That-ah". I think I'm pronouncing it wrong, though?

Why would you pronounce it 'that-ah'? Like 'that' with a stereotype Italian accent? I can't see how, from the letters involved, you could wangle that (-ah) pronunciation from data...

It's 'daah-tuh'. (Not 'day-tuh', American pronunciation does not belong in Ireland...)

It's Dat-ah, not that-ah. Where did you get 'that' from?
If said with a Louth accent, sure, then you'd say 'thaaaaat-ah'.

my old man pronounces EVERY fckin word different to how every one else Ive heard use the word pronounces it, its really annoying :mad:

I think I say "dah-ta" for "data" but "day-tabase" for "database".

But then I also say "either" and "neither" both ways, without concious thought.
Jeez, I'm terribly inconsistent

I suspect that everybody who says Day-ta (or whatever obfuscating phonetic you wish to use, you know what I mean) originally said Dat-ah until they heard somebody whom they believed to be cool saying Day-ta and decided to change.

So to answer your question, I say dat-ah.
