    does anyone on here happen to know if the sump bung on a alfa,156,1.6,twin-spark 2001 is left or right hand thread?

    Anti clockwise to unbolt. It's a big Allen key alright. You may need to leaverage it off. If it's overtighened the threads on the sump itself may/will collapse.

    Seems to be a common problem. You need an extension bar on the Allen Key and lots of torque in your oxter.

    I'd be getting a replacement sump plug before taking the old one off.
