I can open a beer bottle with a lighter, can you?

Here's what you do. Hold the bottle by the neck in your left fist with the cap just a little above your index finger. Turn your wrist inwards towards your chest so your arm is kind of a "left hook". The part of the index finger that will provide support for the lighter is most important. Let's say your index finger has 3 obvious joints:

a) the one down near your fingernail
b) the middle one or next one up
c) the knuckle up at the hand end of your finger.

While you holding the bottle (not too tightly) insert the bottom end of the lighter under the bottle-cap with the body of the lighter resting on your index finger between joints (b) and (c). Try to position it so that more of the lighter is "outside" your fist. Tighten your grip on the bottle a little. This has a two-fold purpose. It tightens the lighter in under the bottle-cap and tenses your finger a little. The only movement now should be you gently prising the cap off (with a pop) while gripping the bottle firmly.

Beginners.. best to practise with the big end of a good rigid dessert spoon or table-spoon to get the technique right. Sh!t, after you get it right you'll be able to pop open a bottle of suds with your damn belt buckle.
