This is the follow up to his previous documentary about the Westboro Baptist Church

Can't watch the whole thing in work

Summary, why are they in crisis? Has the daughter left or something?

Only through the first video now, but yes, quite a lot of them have left the church.

Thanks, I look forward to watching these tonight. Always been a big fan of his stuff though damned if I know how he stands to be around some of the people he interviews.

    Lauren is hot, fact.

I watched it last night, mainly because I'd seen the original. I think that this lot are biggest pack of nutters he's ever done a documentary on. And I'm pretty sure I've seen all his stuff. I was just saying to the wife as we were watching last night about how it's amazing they haven't been on the end of some other psycho with a gun yet.

    Watched it last night, too.

Good to see some minds breaking free of the brainwashing, but terrible to see the next generation of little children there clapping and singing along at their 'services'.

They demonstrate the power of faith, the strength of a belief.
It is appalling the extremes it has led them to.
Did they say theirs was a jealous god? seems like a god of hate.
So maybe they are the followers of Satan, Hah!

In any case, a brilliant piece of television and.... voyeurism.
Makes us all feel a wee bit smug, that we are better than them.
I did feel a bit sorry for the parents of the girl who left, it seemed that they did miss her but couldn't admit it to themselves or the camera.
Maybe it was my imagination tho

What always strikes me about this family is, their heinous views aside, a lot of the younger members are quite likeable.

Just watched a part where one of the kids goes on a rant about how homosexuality is wrong, and ends with "...so you can shut up about it." Louis asks "did you just tell me to shut up?", and the kid goes "okay sorry sorry! I just mean-- okay sorry sorry!" in a cute manner!

    Poor kid :(

I can't help but feel a bit sorry for the young kids who have only ever been exposed to this kind of rubbish.
I also wonder what will happen when old Fred there kicks the bucket (and that really would be something to be thankful for, god or no god).
I think if they do end up going to Jordan/Jerusalem they'd get a very warm welcome...roasting car bomb hot, in fact.

I have heard interviews where Fred Phelps son describes abuse Nate
Phelps says his father regularly beat his mother and 11 siblings,

This is who I felt most sorry for. The little kids being shouted at and abused because they were holding up some awful sign. I cannot imagine what it must be like to live in the abusive home Nate Phelps describes and to spend your childhood being vilified and shouted at because your parents make you carry a terrible sign.

Brilliant bit in part 4 :D

Steve: You want to hold a sign?
Louis: Well, it's against my ethics...
S: Why are you trying to pose a difference between religion and ethics?
    L: Because I don't believe in God.
S: You know what the Bible says about you right? [It says you're a fool].
L: Well the Bible would say that, wouldn't it?

It's really odd to read about Phelps' work on civil rights back in the day when one is used to seeing him as he is now.

I'll watch this later. First one was great. Louis Theroux does great documentaries.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

So is this what happens when you interpret the Bible literally?

No, this is what happens when an utter sociopath systematically brainwashes and abuses his children into a cult of total control.

I honeslty believe the Westboro Baptist Church is the greatest thing to happen to the American LGBT movement since Stonewall.
Hopefully, people will look at these idiots and understand how ridiculous they are.

Once again, I really don't know what to think after seeing one of these documentaries. I genuinely hate these people, but hating them seems to get them off.

What scares me though, is the former Libertarian guy who joined this cult. I mean how can someone literally flip their beliefs like that?

ugh..... I look forward to Fred & Shirley Phelp's death.

Funniest part was when Louis asked the guy about the bitch baby sign and asked who was the bitch, the baby????

Imagine if they came here, and we all went to see them and instead of getting really angry at them and trying to engage them, we just laughed at them?

    That's what I'd do.

I'd looooove for them to follow through on their plan to move to Jerusalem.

They have no shame, I don't think that would do make a difference really. They don't realise that they're supposed to be embarressed, as would be the response by people with normal social skills. I think they must all be somewhere on the autistic spectrum.

If people would ignore them it'd be much better. It's funny how the number of people out to protest against them constantly outnumber them by a couple of orders of magnitude.

Its very difficult to ignore someone who is picketing your son or daughters funeral.

True, but they can't get closer than 500 metres to the funeral as far as I know. I'm not sure how much good it does confronting them about it, in the first Louis Theroux special I remember them saying that they expect people to "rebel" against their message as it says somewhere in the bible that the evil non believers will work against them. Everything you do against them is just more evidence to them that they are right, in their twisted logic. In that case all it serves to do is get yourself more riled up while just playing right into their hands. Better to ignore, they make themselves look bad enough to any decent person so the work is already done.

Its probably a no win situation. But if one were the meddling type...

They have to buy their underwear from somewhere, why not put some radium in there?

It says in leviticus that slavery is acceptable. Why not invade their home and force them in into bondage (the bad type)

Punch the lead guy in the face. The onlookers will quickly realise its all part of gods plan. Agree that sometimes god has awesome plans and continue punching.

As someone who is going to hell we will all be well aquanted with fire. Why not just set them on fire? again...gods plan, can't get mad!

We all know levitcus has one line on homosexuality, but it has a page and a half about how bad mildew is. Point out Barry Scott to them who they will immediatly recognise as the new incarnation of god due to the big booming voice. Theyll then spray their homes with massive amounts of cillit bang, sit back and wait for complete pulmonary arrest.

Drive car repeatedly over balls....gods plan!

There has to be some conspiracy at work here.

They show up at funerals with signs saying 'god hates fags' and imply the dead soldiers deserved it.

Americans have easy access to guns and are deeply patriotic about their soldiers. . . yet none of the phelps family have been murdered yet? That seems insane. If someone tried that at the funeral of a RIR/Irish Guards funeral in the north there'd certainly be death or a month of rioting afterwards.

Has there even been any cases of people attempting to kill these guys?

Because they are right wing religious nut jobs. The only people who get assasinated in America are liberal progressives (Regan and nazi party guy notwithstanding, and by notwithstandind i probably mean 'please ignore because it defeats my arguement')

They never commit violence - or even threaten it on people.
