Maybe this question has been asked before, but does anyone know why some clubs have JSC from 5-9 and some 5-10?

As someone who hovers between 9&10 HC I never know which one to enter, especially as the GUI website rarely lists the HC requirements on the fixture list.

Scratch Cup handicap brackets are not set in stone.... broadly the most common categories are Senior up to 4, Junior 5 to 9, Intermediate 10 to 18 and Minor 19 and up but any variation can be used it seems to me. I have seen Greenore I think this year (2011) with a 3 to 9 Junior - others are using 4 to 9 or 10 and 5 to 9 or 10 even up to 12 for a Junior.

When setting up open scratch cups on Golfnet, the GUI website, the competitions secretary is offered various ranges for Junior :)

As was said the bracketts can change.

A 4 h/cap won't be allowed in the Junior SC 5-9 but no reason a 10 h/cap can't play and revert to 9. Unless the time sheet is full.

Same way an 11 wouldn't be allowed in an intermediate but a 19 could

Not really true many have no step-down allowed

now there's value, compare that to the €40 the Castle/Top Golfer are looking for,yes it has been said before the timesheet will be full but it's half full of members paying less than €40 i presume

you could have done with my 1 over b9 so,i had a f***in 9 at the 9th,ball about an inch over the ob line on the left, ran back knocked down drive and as i only had the driver with me tried to lash it out of the rough with it with not much sucess:(

    started bogey/double so that's 8 shots in 3 holes:(

ya the greens were awful. No excuse i know, i just played badly. but i was curious to see what the cut off turned out to be

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,848 ✭✭✭soundsham

ya worst greens played on all year, big problems between staff and committee I was told,
no one turned up sat to work so dew was left on greens and hollowtining them 10 days before one of if not there biggest event seemed a little sad
would have expected qualifying score for each day to be printed on yesterdays paper,
the least you'd expect after paying to enter a competition is to find out the scores that were good enough or what you missed out by ??

as the phone isn't being answered...021-4381022.
    poor form.

Rosslare Junior Scratch 36 holes (€20)
    (Top Golfer event)

Yes €20 for 36 holes and the course is in great nick.

The Pro-Shop will start taking entries on Monday 18th April over the phone (053-9132032) and there will be a draw for times on the timesheet. The first 90 players who have a handicap between 5 and 9 will be accepted.

Step away from the hobby horse.

Top Golfer events in Rosslare and Enniscorthy are €25 for 36 and €20 for 18 holes (in an upcoming Junior Cup venue).
