Is anybody here going to sit in the dark feeling smug tonight at 8:30?.
not even 20 minutes ago i replaced another "eco - energy saving" bulb - it's crazy price meant to compensate reliability (100000 hours of work, etc) and help protect environment.

eco-bull, fool me once - shame on you, fool me twice - shame on me.

an hour in darkness, me arse...

    Shame on you all
A small sacrifice to make for one hour today and most of you couldn't even do it..and instead are slagging it off.
Personally I had off all my lights+pc+xbox etc all off for this hour...

actually for 3 hours as I went for a small nap after a day of glorious airsofting :D

Right now all the lights in the house are on, including the lamps. All the TV's are on, my laptop is on, the dishwasher, the washing machine, the cooker (cooking dinner). Also, the patio lights are on.

    Am I doing this right?

    Stoned ???

All my lights are on too, but they are 3W LED's. The cfl's i used to have are guzzlers by comparison. I think i'm doing my bit.

Its like people going over to Roscommon for a weekend to build a few houses for the poor unfortunates. Basically, a massage for the conscience and the ego all in one go.
    Generally pointless though.

Hope he didn't turn off his growroom lights. That wouldn't be very green.

that's why I never donate to them bagpackers, expecting us to pay for private school kids' holidays

They can build their own houses if they are given the money, materials and knowhow. Give a man a fish, he will eat for a day, - teach him to fish and he'll eat for ages (unless he lives in the desert and then its useless)
What they're doing is flying over there with their mates, going our fishing on the lake, toasting each other with a few beers while they watch the locals eat the fish, then flying home.

You will do a lot more for the environment by walking to the pub instead of driving, than any symbolic switching off of lights and possibly gettiing a free trip to casualty after tripping over the cat!

looking at Eirgrid site, between 20:15 and 21:30 the demand dropped by 10%
thing is, it dropped by exactly 10% in the same time period last night

    I drove the bus.
By the way, I was putting the housebuilding project into the context of the famous fishing quote (thought that was obvious). But since you mention it - I did actually catch a fish.

When I looked out the window earlier, not one house had their light turned off. I think they actually had more lights on than usual - probably just to piss off the Earth. What a bastard he really is... :pac:
