Are you going to turn off everything and sit in the dark for Earth Hour?

Yes, it is that time of the year again folks, the time of the year when the vast majority of us ignore or don't partake in the bizarre quasi-religious ritual known as Earth Hour. Is anybody here going to sit in the dark feeling smug tonight at 8:30?.

I'm going to put my dryer on, and the boiler and whatever electric heaters I have. Just to be nice and warm watching the Ireland match.

That should probably compensate for about 20 of the people sitting in the dark.

I'm going to switch on every light I can just to be awkward and prove a point.

My electricity is about to run out so I'll be sitting in the dark until I can be arsed to go and buy some more or until my laptop battery runs out...

That's a separate event. I think it's next month. And it's just an "awareness" day, so you don't have turn anything off.

Did you know that all the energy used in promoting Earth Hour negates any energy saved during that hour?

    True story.

I won't be doing this, if I turn off the power supply to my laptop it will immediately turn off. No internet makes squeaks something something!

So it is just an exercise in sanctimonious smugness then?.

I think it's smug all right, and pointless, but so is switching on a load of stuff to "spite" those who do it.
