Codec for MPEG Video File

Trying to edit a friends video...but all his files are MPEG.

Ive never had a problem before that Windows Movie Maker XP could not recognise a file, but then again I've never had to edit MPEG before either.

Ive tried downloading a few different codecs, but they now recognise the video file only as an audio file.

Can anyone recommend a codec for windows XP that works with MPEG?

Tried it but the same scenario.. Its a tricky one..Too many files to convert too.

Shark codecs are by far the best

never ever had an issue playing any files

Nay joy with that either..Might just try a file conversion

What is the file extension? Do the files play on your computer?
