Do doctors not feel your balls in this country when you're growing up?

Okay, this is actually a serious question. In the US (where I'm from), you have to get a check-up every year (generally right before school) when you're growing up.

Usual stuff - mouth/throat/listen to lungs/listen to heart/etc/etc... Also, the doctor always checks out the lad - checks for hernia, checks the balls for testicular cancer, etc.

Do they not do that here? Since I've had several mates - and read countless PI threads - who are very embarrassed/anxious about approaching the doctor about any problem down below - to the point where it endangers their health in a couple cases.

Vs the US, mates wouldn't be thrilled about it, but it wouldn't be a big deal to go get checked if they had an issue - since we're used to the Dr. dealing with it.

Doctors, no. Nurses, yes. During primary school all of the children get checked by the local nurse (probably the public health nurse), and they do the whole "Cough please" routine in the school building during the school day.

I'm not sure how often this takes place, but I only recall it occuring once. It definitely doesn't occur after primary school, and I'm pretty sure it's not a yearly thing.

Most Irish men don't attend a doctor or nurse during their teenage years unless they fall ill. This is probably the main reason why they're very uncomfortable about it when they become adults. If it was something that they were accustomed to during puberty, it would be less of an issue as an adult.

In america most kids have a peds dr who they go to at least once a year.
Over here there is only the general pratice who tend to see the whole family and there is no yearly check up for kids.

This happened in my school in Junior Infants. Two female doctors brought in people one by one and checked their balls. I'm sure they checked for other things too but this obviously sticks out.

Really? I can't remember having that done, I must have blocked it mentally...

    I teabagged a nurse once.

    Don't think that counts though.

I got examined once in primary school by a nurse.

I was devestated to hear afterwards that she did the whole class as well. Not to mention the fact that when she was doing it, she didn't even take off her nurse's cap and uncoil her primly secured bun to reveal a sluttish mane of hair while staring in my eyes.

    No, never.

Then again I would never go to the doctor unless I was really sick, in fact I can only ever recall getting one check up, and my balls where left alone.

Doctors check the testicles at the 6 week baby check after you are born. Generally only after that if there is a problem.

A while back I arranged myself (im 16) to go and see my GP about a problem I had down there...

Arrived on my own and it turned out, dont ask me how i didnt know, my sister and my mother were there at the same time. FML. Anyways I just said I had an issue downstairs because I frankly couldnt give a sh!t.

That all changed. I went in and the doctor is about 70 odd, slaps on a latex glove and asks me to pull down. I swear to good god I thought my balls were going to get welded to my arse her hands were that cold.

Was around 4 months ago and it still haunts me. There wasnt even anything wrong.

I wonder what goes through a female doctor's head when a male patient asks to be examined "down there", but there turns out to be nothing wrong?

    ;)

That would be an ecumenical matter. This'd be funnier if post #2 hadn't happened.

If they have not decended at birth there's a chance of the undecended testie turning in to a tumour
