    Hi Folks,

Thinking of getting a 1.4 VW Bora for the other half. It's 2500 for 2002, 120,000 miles, NCT'd till 2012.

Is this a good buy? Just need a run around for her don't want to get any bigger than a 1.4 engine but I still want something that wouldn't be terrible for a longer trip. I've heard that they have bad gearboxes is there anything else I should look out for?

    Thanks in advance

    Griff

that 1.4 engine with over 100k!! dodgy territory, whats the service history like ? any evidence of a re build ? what wheels has it got OEM or big 18" reps?

That 1.4 engine is one of the worst engines VW ever made and the accompanying gearbox ditto, people fitting big wheels to them didn't help many gearboxes either and killed a few prematurely.

    True

My Golf has 147,500 Miles on it, serviced regularly but it can't take much abuse though :pac:

It wasn't an option for me ( my first car) but You could always go for one built in 1999/2000 that's TDI
