Sky Sports on UPC for the US Masters

So BBC have lost the US Masters golf to Sky which means that as an avid armchair golfer and UPC customer I have a few questions.....

    1. Has anyone seen if RTE said that they will show any live play from the Masters?

    2. As a UPC Digital customer who does not subscribe to Sky Sports, do UPC have any plan to make it available as a per per view (PPV) event?

    3. Is it easy to subscribe to Sky Sports for just a month or do you have to signup for 6 or 12 months?

With Champions League on free to air channels and the odd Premier League match on Setanta and ESPN, I really don't feel the need to pay 30 euros a month for Sky Sports i.e. I don't want to signup permanently, hence the interest in PPV for the Masters.

    2. UPC wouldn't be allowed to do that.

If you want Sky Sports on UPC for a month be careful. Firstly the golf can be shown on a couple of channels so you will have to subscribe to all the sports channels at €34 per month.
Secondly UPC being the charitable kind also charge an upgrade fee of €10 and a downgrade fee also.
Your months viewing ends up costing at least €54 extra.

This site was mentioned in the soccer forums http://hackedcabletv.com/ They have all the Sky Sports channels there, just click the box near the bottom right corner that says UKTV and change it to Sports, bit dubious legally but.......

RTÉ don't have the Irish rights to the Masters, haven't shown it since 2006 as far I know.

UPC won't be making the Masters available as a PPV event because Setanta have the rights and will show all four days plus the Par 3 competition.

Here's the link confirming their coverage - http://www.setanta.com/ie/Articles/2011/03/01/Setanta-confirms-Masters-coverage/gnid-89434/

All 4 days of the Masters will be live on Sky Sports 1 but you can't just subscribe for 1 of the sports channels with UPC, the only option is to pay €33 for all the channels. I wasn't aware of an upgrade charge though.

It's pretty sneaky of them plus they charge you another €10 to downgrade-a lot of money for somebody to press a few keys on a keyboard.

There is NO €10 upgrade fee. There is a €10 downgrade fee.
