Ah here, I'm giving you the 50. If I only gave you 40 then you'll pretty much have paided a tenner for the privilege of hauling it up into an attic and back down again. Which wouldn't be very nice!

    Lol, fair enough dude

Ok the beast is down  Everyone was conveniently out this morning  so I went out & bought a good thick piece of rope to aid me. Got it down on my own with minimal fuss, but my God its heavy. I'll leave the back off for you o1s1n, as it makes lifting/transporting it much much easier. Sad to see it go, it'll make a sweeeet retro tv :(

I spotted some nice cheap shelving units today in B&Q, €20 I think for, a two piece shelf unit that has a top on it (so three shelves effectively), I might pick up two or three of them & a nice unit for the tv's when the carpet is done. Thats getting done tonight now that I've the attic cleared out.

You brought the TV down on your own with a bit of rope? That sounds a bit McGuyverish. :D

What did you do, throw the rope over a beam and lower it down?

Check out this setup I found in my photobucket account. Imagine having the room for this!

Believe it or not one handed too! :D Lifted a few inches with one hand & a good rope system, and slowly made my way down the ladder. Went very well, it just goes to show while it is heavy, when you get a proper purchase on the weight it's actually do-able.

Re the pic......:eek::eek: That's the dream!

Tbh o1s1n, you'd be better off getting metal bars back in for added strenght :D Most of the carpet is down, too fugged to continue on after lifting that tv down, clearing out the whole space & fitting 90% of the carpet...I shall continue tomorrow.

Have the tv picked out I want, & the type of shelving...can't believe its almost done!

I'd say it's going to be exciting once you have those shelves in and are sorting through consoles!
Have you figured out what you're going to do with games? I know you said you were going to store the boxes away..got an idea for the carts?

I'm thinking some kind of mid-height sotrage unit, maybe one of two of those cube setups? I'll get the tv's set up & as many consoles as possible & then look at space for games. I'm thinking a couple of shelves either side of the chimney breast where its all dead space anyway, provided theres not too much of a reach...don't want it to be like an episode of the Krypton Factor when browsing for games :D

The whole idea will be to have as much as possible, as accessible as possible, with as little fuss as possible :)
