St. Patrick's Day in Galway

Heading to Galway city on St. Patricks Day and staying for a couple of nights. Apart from the parade, can people please recommend family things to do? I'm going with my wife and toddler son, we've been to the city lots of times but it's our first as a family, before this visit we didn't venture far from the pubs and shops

There's not much information online as to what events are taking place this year but I know that the actual St. Patricks festival is finishing on St. Patricks Day. I thought this was a little odd, I thought that they would extend it in to the weekend of March 19th and 20th. Either way, we're looking forward to getting away for a while and appreciate any recommendations you may have.

I guess you had a google and checked out sites like www.stpatricksgalway.com/events.html? Seems there will be plenty family things going on during the day in the centre.

On Friday, members of the public will be treated to some quality street theatre from The Fanzini Brothers at 6pm and 7pm who promise fantastic comedy, pure fun, spoof danger, and circus tricks and live music from folk/roots/Americana band The Molly Hicks at the Town Hall Theatre at 8pm.

Btw, parade will start at 12.30

Man, thanks for that, I googled "st patrick's day galway 2011" and that site didn't even come up in the first page of results!! It's perfect, thanks a mill

Also if you need something in the morning or in between the Aquarium is close by.... www.nationalaquarium.ie
