this was on the news on the radio.
maybe its standard procedure but the report said the children were with the authorities and not the mother.

they seem healthy kids and the story will now be forgot about.

however some points of interest to me.

automatically it was presumed the children would come to harm as the person who was asked to take them away was male.

the children are now "safe" but what led to the social services getting involved and the mother asking this man to take hide her kids?

something about it all that just doesnt seem right.
i certantly dont believe this man abducted the children and meant to do them harm.
i believe his is probably unhinged due to a recent breakup and acted irresponsibly , id be more concerned as to why the mother wanted the children to be hidden , what was that all about

To be honest, i think most people would be more concerned about the kid's being in the company of someone who is "probably unhinged", as you put it.
I'm sure the full story of what went on will be picked apart by the daily rags, so, for about a euro, your mind should be put at ease soon.

Anyway, delighted they have been found safe and well.

why dont the media just tell you whats going on?

yes the male is unhinged and obviously a threat to the children.
by unhinged , i said he acted irresponsibly and followed the wishes of the mother instead of reason.

i can only deal with facts and what the media tells me ( it may not be my business but when the media want help with a missing person perhaps they should release all the details, we almost had a manhunt for a serial child killer there , but i think the fact he was with a woman saved him)

rather than follow what the media and stereotypes would i decided to look at this differently and also deal with fact.

the mother asked this man to take her kids and hide them if anyone should come looking for them.
for whatever reason he and another woman followed her wishes.
i still do not think the so called kidnappers meant the children any harm.
and i would be more concerned that the children were asked to be hidden from the authorities by the mother.
the mother here would be the person i would be more concerned about regards the childrens safety.

also , i have to laugh at the comment about the euro paper :)
you sound like a wanker , wise up!

as said , it may not be any of my business but when the media and authorities want help finding 2 english people in tow with 6 children on a small island perhaps it would be prudent to inform people of the facts of the case.

Telling you the family relationships, living arrangements or possible reasons he may have had for being with the children would not help you ID a person from a picture/description and ring the authorities.

I'd love to know the details too, but it's because I'm nosy :D

Delighted they were found safe. :)

i just think the thread threw up some stereotypes.
namely that because the man who had them was a male that the worst may happen.
the facts are that the mother asked for the children to be hidden if the authorities came looking for them. that would be my main concern in relation to the childrens safety.
and i feel the media should inform people of the facts in case someone gets hurt.
i believe that because the man had abducted the kids with another woman and two kids that it saved him from being targeted as a potential child rapist/killer.

and naturally we are all glad the children have been found safe and well.

Yeah just saw this this on the news last night, and was thinking myself that it was a very odd story. As soon as I heard that the woman had told him to hide/move the children if the social came looking for them, I thought that there's maybe more to this story than a case of abduction.
Why was she concerned about the social taking her kids when she was in hospital? Surely it would not be that uncommon/illegal for somebody to leave their kids with a trusted friend if they are ill for a little while in hospital?
Did he even know that she had gotten out of hospital? I presume that she must have tried to contact him, but it didn't say that on the news. It just said that she got out of the hospital, and she reported her kids missing [abducted?].
Were the social already in talks about taking her children before she went to hospital?
Also did the news not mention something about 2 neighbors kids missing aswell? Was there any names or pictures of these children given?

This event now appears to be not as serious as first thought. The man and woman have been unconditionally released from custody. My guess is they just decided to go away for a few days while the mother was in hospital but stupidly didn't inform anyone. A bit of a relief all round as the initial speed of releasing photos suggested much worse.
