Another bloody stickie! If you spot a classic and take a shot please put it here rather than start a fresh thread. I'll start, I spotted this Lotus Elan parked in Catherine Street here in Waterford. Had'nt seen it before. Today I also saw 2 Silver Clouds, and 2 Jenson Interceptors but they were moving and so was I :D Mike.

How does an early numberplate like IU 2 end up on an 80s mercedes W123? That number must be from the 1900s?

Many early plates were reissued mostly in the 70's & 80s. One of the most famous was the ex works Ford Escort STW 200R which ended up as SIF 200 http://bbs.rallyesportescorts.co.uk/showpost.php?p=133048&postcount=36

Yes, as mb says, it was possible to legally transfer registrations pre 87, providing the original car was scrapped. GTI1, GTI2, GTI205 are notable ones.

This car was a familiar sight around Cork in the 80's

Registration was probably originally issued in late 1950's but resurrected again for this car in 1980?

that looks like an Opel Rekord C on the left, maybe a Cortina or Kadett B behind and on the other side, a Datsun Sunny....:)
