Ford C-Max 1.6 TDCI - CVT problems

I am thinking of bringing an 06 or 07 cmax in from the UK. Am looking at a 1.6 tdci automatic.

I have read about problems with the CVT version (Honest John).

Can someone tell me if the CVT is the only automatic version of this car or is there a "regular" automatic without these problems?

I think that era of C-max diesels had CVT boxes only. When catastrophic failures of CVT surfaced, ford stopped putting CVT boxes into C-max.

I wouldn't touch one of those. I guess mondeo diesels from same years has a conventional torque converter boxes but I may be wrong.

The CVT is a horrendous pile of crap. Avoid like the plague.

Parkers says there is no other type of automatic box for 1.6 diesel C-max. only CVT.

There is a 4 speed auto for 2.0 lt petrol in list but I am not sure which years they are.

I want to get something fuel efficient and automatic.
