did you just look that up in wikipedia to be smart? pagans weren't always polytheistic, buddhists are heathens also and they don't believe in a god.

No, a poster on here called me up on it before.

Some Buddhists believe in god(s). Buddhism has nothing to say on the existence of gods.

You can double check that on wikipedia to be smart if you want. You have my permission. rolllllleeeeyyysss

Is an epiphany what Catholics call an inappropriate orgasm...?

its not disrespect, its a joke, it's also pointing out the ridiculousness of the idea of smearing ashes on your forehead to profess your faith. who are you doing it for? if you believe then god knows doesn't he, so there's no point in showing off to everyone else how much you believe in the savior.
    your mocking them, thats disrespectful.
Im a non believer, stop giving others like me a bad name.

Wow that completey validates your flying spaghetti monster idea. I stand corrected by a better man.
No of course it doesn't, but there's nothing pseudo intellectual about what I said, it was a joke. However, slapping out old cliche terms like "pseudo intellectual" in reply to a joke is a bit pseudo intellectual.

Anyway, DerangedDreamer already proved me wrong by coming up with a better one.

    No, that would be molestation.

Next year on Ash Wednesday, we all go around with stickers of the Flying Spaghetti Monster on our foreheads. :pac:

    we could call it Bollo-wednesday.

Surly you should just smear some pasta sauce on your forehead.

Bad name? pointing out how ridiculous something is surely goes a long way towards eventually ending said ridiculousness?

Why shouldn't we be doing this, I've been disrespected plenty of times, from many different people, one of which even said that morals come from religion, I have no religion, yet I still have morals and they didn't come from religion, they came from a fundamental understanding of right and wrong. but it's alright for him to disrespect me?

To be fair you've some neck to be accusing me of wheeling out cliches when you're thread is based on one massive cliche itself.
I do think you're a pseudo intellectual if I'm honest, you're taking cheap shots because you think it will gain favour with your peers, and the flying spaghetti monster gag was the cherry on top of the pseudo intellectual cake for me.

You came up with the idea for the thread because you knew After Hours is a place where religion bashing is popular.

I have no time for religion, but to my mind people should be free to believe whatever they like free from ridicule from people looking for cheap laughs.

So you're essentially admitting that you're no better than the hypocrites who go around preaching their religious bullsh1t whilst completely disregarding it in their actions.

Thats one way to get back at those hypocritical religious morons.

Im an agnostic but I dont get the fascination with putting down other peoples beleif system. Its pointless to me to rip other people apart based on there beleifs. The only time I will attack a beleif is when a double standard is used. A good one was when I was told by a guy wearing a cross bigfoot couldnt exist.

Apart from that though I generally dont get people in my face telling me that my science is wrong and their beleif is right ect. So why not live and let live.

    I hate beleifs.
    Down with beleifs.

You started it mate. looking for favour with my peers? random people on the internet?

Whats cheap about pointing out the idiocy of a stupid action and or belief?

No, I posted it in after-hours because I would have been banned from the religion forum as a troll and lets face it, i would be preaching to the choir if i posted in athiesm.

So what? you think I'm a chicken or something who wouldn't go around saying this in real life so i post on internet forums to curry favour with "internet buddies"? I'm not going to tell you how big my internet balls are (even though they are massive)

I have plenty of friends thanks, I've had plenty of debates with plenty of Christians and people of other denominations about beliefs. In fact I will always talk to a christian about his or her beliefs if they ask me about mine, and why not? surely dialogue is the way to liberating everyone from beliefs. especially when you appeal to someones sense of humour

Yeah, people should be free to believe what they want, and people should also be free to take the piss out of those beliefs and challenge them, otherwise people will continue believing myths and legends.

lots of people had their "beliefs" wrongly ridicled only for their belief to turn out right.

"hello father murphy, how are ya today?"

"only the one?, shur I'd three before early mass." wink wink

What's wrong with you, Jesus you'd think i just mortally wounded you or something by the way you're acting..

No, I was just pointing out how religious people can give but they can't take.

Personally (me not being a baby) I believe you can say whatever you want to someone as long as they can say whatever they want to you; at the end of the day, if one party tries to stop someone from talking then reason and logic has lost.

So why should people get offended when I take the piss out of them smearing burned plant matter on their face as an expression of faith? I'm questioning their faith and I'm being very up front about it, am I not allowed to do that?

will pick this up tomorrow, a lab in the morning and it's my bed time.

yeah, lots of people also had proof of a lot of things, and religious people mocked them and even locked them up or tried to lock them up for it. (Galileo and his proof of the heliocentric model, the scopes trial on evolution and many others)

All I'm doing is talking, if I'm wrong then whats the harm? (apart from me going to hell of course)

right i'm really going to bed now.

Im agnostic as I said I agree with some of what your saying but I dont see the point in offending a group of people because its the popular thing to do.

I think we should dress up as priests and slap our cocks across people's foreheads instead.
