Unlock a UK HTC Wildfire for free?

Hi all, I just bought a HTC Wildfire mobile that is locked to Vodafone UK. I rang Vodafone UK and they said it costs £29.99 to get it unlock because the fone is less than a year old. I don't want to pay this nor do I really want to pay anyone else. My question is, do any of you know of any way I can get the fone unlocked…

Got it done in an unlocking shop for £15 for anyone who is interested.
