Any ideas for the next ubiquitous shoe, somerthing that doesn't wreck our feet?

Ballet flats have been a fashion stalwart since 2003-ish on these shores.

Yeah, they look super cute but in ways, they're no better for our feet, backs and posture than sky-high stilettos.

They cause us to "claw" our toes and don't tend to have arch supports, and have non-existent heels. Also, for the short lady, like myself, they can make us even more squat.

They are also impractical in that your feet can get soaked quite quickly in them.

I guess boots are also a stalwart during the winter and they are infinitely more sensible, whilst also being stylish.

But what kind of shoe could take over from ballet flats? It would need to have a least a small heel, but low heeled shoes can look quite frumpy.

I know other shoes styles, such as brogues, have come alone. Personally, I like brogues, but they are still quite niche.

Any ideas?

I've been wearing shoes a bit like pumps but with a bit more structure
They're not the most supportive but way better than some that I have tried on

The bottom ones - yep, they're definitely work shoes! :P :pac:
But something of that height of heel would be great. Shoe designers of the world, listen up!

They're very bouncy in the sole

Outside of work I've been wearing something a bit like

but I'm also looking for new shoes that are not cloth, good support, not sneakers for casual wear now that it's not winter

I wanna be a shoe designer all of a sudden.

The thing about the fashion industry is that it doesn't tend to be influenced by what the public wants. They decide what's going to be in fashion and often don't care about practicalities!

I'm thinking loafers, like these ones. More structured than flats, and really smart looking. They go with so many outfits, I wish I could afford a pair.

My feet are wrecked from walking to college in pumps all the time!

Yeah, pumps hurt my legs.

Loafers are really not my thing, I have to say!

I've been living in lil boots like these lately actually, so comfy, gives that tiny bit of height and supports the foot.

I hope brogues aren't the next big thing. I love them, but on my size 8 feet they make me look like I've stolen some blokes shoes.

I'll be horribly jealous of small footed women if brogues become super popular and I have to see them all the time.

I'm so jealous of small-footed women, both because their feet look so pretty and dainty, and because they can get great shoes in the sales (actually, so can big-footed women). I once called my size 3 friend from town and practically ordered her to come in and buy a gorgeous pair of size 3 grey suede boots that were marked down from 100 euros to 25 euro in the sale. They were so gorgeous and chic, and naturally there were no 5s and 6s left. :mad: :pac:
