Gas to Oil - Where to run pipes?

    Hi,

    We currently has Oil central heating and wish to change to a Gas system.

    I have had 2 RGI installers out, one said to run the pipes through the floor and the other side your crazy to run them through the floor and run them through the wall and ceiling and then into the kitchen. Both uoted IS 813 when I asked them about the conflict in approach and said the other was wrong? I know nothing about Gas but when I have asked others they siad pipes should run through the floor? Any advice would be greatly appreciated?

    Both are right and neither are wrong. There is diffrent regs for each type of pipe run proposed and both are covered in IS813. It sounds a bit like (never mind your man he's of his head my way is the best):D. If you have suspended floors down stairs then thats the route I would take. Less disruption and less bends to cause restrictions in the gas pipe.
    Do you have a side passage? if so could the pipe be brought up the side passage and into the kitchen that way. There are many ways of getting the gas to the point of use.
