    just an idea...

why dont 10 of who think the price is too expensive just pm each other, sort it out to buy together and get the ticket deal for 20e each.

plenty of strangers are doing that on facebook at the mo, to get the 20e tickets. makes complete sense.

I can't. My mammy told me to never talk to strangers.

Never said I was supporting the promotor, I just think that anyone who pays that price is an idiot. And if there are enough idiots, then promoters will keep charging those prices.
If I were paying that price for gigs week-in, week-out, I'd say that's a fair comment. Excluding festivals, I'd say the average price I paid per gig last year was €12. €20 - €30 is not an astronomical sum if you're only spending it once in a blue moon, and I think it's ridiculous to look at people who'd spend it so infrequently as halfwits.

Your event is so expensive that people have to contact strangers online to all club together and get a discount. That is just crazy imo.

You really are shameless. I tell you, eventually the bottom is going to REALLY fall out of things here and you won't be able to rob people like this. I really hope that kudos bites you in the arse when it does happen.

I would have called him karma then. It would have made more sense.

And in relation your original concern about us proletariat being fleeced by greedy promoters I have organised a march with the Socialist Workers Party. I told them a slight fib and said it was about greedy developers but I'm sure they will understand once I explain it to them. The only problem is that when they have overthrown the oppressive promoters there will be an affirmative action guest list in place. So the tickets may cost 50 cent but you'll have to wait until all the one legged, black lesbians are let in first and they always wreck the gaff!

oh bring it on!! they deserve everything they get for keeping prices so high and stopping so many promoters who have a real passion for the scene from even getting a start.

Not really. Nothing other promoters do can stop anyone else from going out and doing it themselves.

Any clown can book a DJ, case in point...

Read it carefully, they're using RA as their guestlist to help promote it.

10 pounds isn't that much of a bargain for that line up in London.

Bit ****e that line-up in my opinion....this is pretty tidy though for about 6/7 quid in a small venue! Andro and Redshape Live....

How much you get charged for Redshape in Ireland?

This year I know I'll be putting my €30 towards the (almost-paltry-in-comparison) €50 ticket fee for http://www.awakenings.nl/nieuws/85/line-up-awakenings-festival-bekend/

Now thats what I call value for money! Oh and Villalobos is playing as well...

I wonder if Remedy was to host the same Awakenings event here, how much more would the tickets cost? Just a thought... ;)

I will do whatever I can to have an effect upon this event. It is time that people start speaking up and not accepting what is clearly wrong. If I can persuade only 1 person not to attend this I will be happy. I'm going to try for a whole lot more though!

Well done, you're succeeding, keep up the good work!

72 folks who were going to go to this emailed me to say they are now giving it a miss....and counting;)

With Bloc happening that weekend as well, you just never know - it might not be that busy! Fingers crossed..

25 tickets left on tickets.ie left

otherwise tickets are from ticketmaster.ie or RA.

for group tickets - 10 tickets for 200e - just mail info@remedyireland.com , these are going very well, so dont hang about.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 26 MikeyOSN

That's funny, the rumour coming out of the ticketmaster office is that there are loads of tickets left! ;) Though, if I was a promoter I would probably write that there are only 25 tickets left as well...

Honest question, how much do you actually think he was going to make if it sold out at those ticket prices.

Also, if you read what he wrote, it says 25 left at tickets.ie, not Ticketmaster. So your insider info is moot.

Mikey, do you happen to know what Villalobos's normal fee is?

Surely, you should be taking a go at him what with him probably making the most money out of the night?

He is just spouting propaganda to get folk to rush and buy tickets. I drink with a chap from ticketmaster and it aint doing that well...

You seem so sure that he's ripping everyone off that you should be able to give some idea of how much he's going to make.

Look at the prices for every other event Villalobos is playing around the Dublin gig. The price is far more for Dublin than anywhere else...with no explanation. I know, for fact, that the cost of holding an event in Dublin is no different than for a promoter hiring a venue in the U.K, or wherever. If Villalobos is charging more for Dublin than anywhere else, then the promoter should come out and say that....then I will happily go after RV;) I don't believe that is the case. though....just like every other rip-off Republic event we have to cough up for etc Leccy Picnic

Its been explained you a few times, on here and on BT forums. Cost to run an event in Ireland costs more than the UK. If you compare an independent promoter vs owner promoter than there is no way they can make the prices be the same. They take door, drinks, cloakroom. They can split their advertising costs, printing etc.

You're basing your calculations on what you think it should cost, and not on reality.

We dont have to cough up for anything, this is the point. If you dont want to go then don't, but going around on this personal vendetta makes you look like a tool. Its not up to the promoter to explain anything to you.
