My OH is way better looking then me and I'm with her years. She isn't Irish though, maybe that could be something to do with it (I'm not in the slightest bit rich either)

Also lots of girls go for personality and....eh....financial security over looks so I really doubt that it's a fail to date a hotter woman at all, it's probably quite common actually.

Now a woman dating a man that is way hotter then her...............that's an entirely different story and would make a much better and more controversial thread

i'd be inclined to agree with you personally speaking, i went for personality, his good looks were a bonus!

but to me personality is key in a relationship, you do need to both be compatible too imo

but its friday afternoon and right this minute i am all about the looks...:p

Yeah I'd total agree, personality is vital in any relationship, for example I know some stunners that are about as interesting as cat litter so that would put me off them right from the get go.

Btw I find it interesting the way that women can be really choosy when they are in the teens and 20's but the roles reverse once men hit their 30's and 40's. So in theory it should be harder for a guy in his twenties dating a girl in her twenties then a guy in his thirties dating a girl in her thirties.........or is that me just being older and vainer?

Point is, would any guys actually WANT that? Do you really want to be with a girl who is only there because she feels she can't do any better? I would hate that sort of relationship. For the same reason as I'd hate a relationship in which the girl was in it for money, social status, or something else which is just a sort of "side effect" of being with me.

If I'm going out with someone, I want that to be because they actually like me.

I'm sure most others would agree?

Makes sense. Women are a higher commodity in most species afaik

Though there is the occasional gem with the wonderful combination of sexiness and low confidence. Have to make sure to knock her down a peg if she ever starts coming out of her shell though.

Its probably more a subconcious thing. Think its just phrased badly.

I would most definitely agree with the findings of this research. When you see a hot girl with an ugly bloke, it's almost as if you're thinking - how dare he! You basically make it your mission to win her. To free her from her beastly captor

Such relationships can never last unless the male is stinking rich, in which case he might get more mileage out of it.

Growing up I was always warned not to overshoot my mark and to go with a nice plain woman who would make a good wife. Such age-old wisdom is seldom wrong. If an item is selling for less than it should it probably has some sort of defect....

I really doubt it actually, from the media and from women's publications about finding a guy, you can pretty much take it for granted that for a lot of women, "being in a relationship" takes priority over being with someone you like. In other words, the fact of being in one is more important than WHO it's with.

IMO, this is absolutely depressing.

The daily mail is a very reputable paper which only reports the most accurate scientific research in well-written balanced articles.

Sure, there are papers which arguably take an irresponsible approach to scientific reporting, supposedly reading whatever conclusions will grab headlines out of statistically-inconclusive research, but the daily mail is not one of them :mad:.
