Its rare to see a Hong Kong based airsoft store specifically
mention Ireland on its shipping information :D

SOthere are no problem importing airsoft guns to Ireland. They have to be below certain (joule) pressure? I'm new to this

    Hailstones hurt.

Playing at Ambush Adventures, Southampton on Sunday afternoon we were blitzed out of it at about 16:00. It was like God opened up on us with a million of Lemming's Pigs. At the same time. Ouch.

MultiCamTerrainPattern is becoming very popular on the offshore island; I guess a third to a half of the 60-odd players were wearing one or the other.

And it was feckin' Baltic (c) on Saturday night. Good weekend otherwise though.

Yes, we all did. It was very funny.

Most of them were 6mil, but I reckon they were doing well over 100m/s. Maybe Andy or Dex can tell us what the terminal velocity of a hailstone is?

Since my borrowed gun (some kind of a "7.62" Armalite) was crap, I took the opportunity for a little rest ;)

Depends on a vast number of factors like air density, object density, friction, surface porosity, buoyancy, object size, object shape, air pressure etc. It's a huge can of worms (and by worms, I mean formulae, theorems and equations) that I won't go into, but for the size of hail we get on average and at our air density, you're looking around 12m/s.
To get to 1J, the hail would need to be about an inch in diameter.

Thanks. That's much less than I expected. Perhaps they compensate for lack of energy by rate of fire :)

I am an enormous nerd, but at least I'm useful.

On a completely unrelated note, I'm available for table quizzes as a ringer.

Not airsoft but interesting. One would think they could handle a group of rebels, or if they were so significantly outnumbered that they couldnt that they would never have been inserted. Serious egg on britains face in any case.

The same happend to Dutch Marines. It's nothing to do with not being able to handle them selves. It's to do with knowing the right time to stand down.

Opening fire on a group of rebels who far outnumbered them wouldn't have been a good idea. That would make the British look bad.

    The headlines would read "Protesters
    massacred by British forces" .

It's a tence situation over there and no one wants to make it worse

My bet is that it was the goddam tree hugging birkenstock wearing diplomat that made a mess of things ... probably prattling on about 'avoiding an international incident' or some such rubbish. Those SAS boys missed a prime opportunity to off the mandarin and blame it on the locals ...

May be may not, "Foreign Office Official" or "diplomatic official" often term used for MI6 in these instances

    They'll need MI9's help !!!:D:D

According to The Grauniad, the "diplomat" was MI6.

Bad form to drop in on someone else's Civil War without telephoning first, chaps. Even when one is trying to be helpful. Jolly poor show, eh?

I don't see what the fuss is about?

Remember its the current british regime opposition making all the noise about this.

On first glance it looked like a simple operation. Drop in a team, establish communications with the rebel leaders to establish communications etc, and then out.

With no current comms up, SAS operatives land in helicopter, in the open, in broad day light, so they can clearly be approached. Rebels got the freaker and just took them captive.

The outcome of this was more then likely the communication was established, job done.

It is only the opposition party in Britain making a big song and dance on how it was an embarrasment etc, there has been enough coverage on this world wide, and any of the news station who have brought in special guests who are ex-military or ex-special forces all concur that it was a Establish Comms op that ended succesfully, but had a minor bump.

I'd hardly think that if it was some "covert espionage" mission, as alot of the opposition parties claim, that highly trained Special Forces, would simply plop themselves in broad daylight, into the open, in a helicopter...

    Just saying...
