I'm going to remove my aircon this weekend.

Do i drop it to a scrappy for disposal or where?

presume local waste management facility would be the place to go.

i think you can toss the motor anywhere you like cant you? just stick it in the wheelie bin or whatever.

i think its the gas you release first thats illegal to vent to the atmosphere. i think advanced pitstop or some chain like that will extract the gas, its cheap enough. i think it can give you a nasty burn too so watch out.

Depends on what refrigerant is used. If its pre 1995 it will be R-12 or R-22, this should be disposed of correctley as its a CFC.

If its more modern R-134a It can be released into the atmosphere as its not a CFC (and in a small amount in a aircon system), however when released as its compressed into a liquid, when it turns to a gas it will freeze anything it touches and give a nasty burn as mentioned above. :)
