Full Service recommendations for 2005 Volvo S40 1.8 petrol

Per thread post, looking to get a full service done on a 2005 Volvo S40 1.8 (petrol). Any recommendations for independents in the North Wicklow or Dublin area (doesn't matter where in Dublin, willing to travel).

Was wondering if I'd be wasting my time looking for anything cheaper or more comprehensive than what's listed on the following website: http://www.baskinservicecentre.com/Price-list---1-4.html ?

Thats a cheap price for a S40 alright.Dont know how hes doing it for a 1.8 when the recommended oil is magnatec fully synthetic @ 8-10 quid a litre.

Sorry just saw that longlife plugs and fully synthetic oil are extra.Wonder how much extra??Probably around another 60 I`d say so youre at 209.

You wouldnt be far off a main dealer at that price to be totally honest.

I got a basic service done on my old S40 1.6d from a main dealer last year for €195.

Its impossible to give fixed price servicing on modern cars.

The correct service for your car depends on the mileage and the previous servicing its had.

For example the plugs and air filter on your car are only due at every third service(assuming its had correct servicing up until now) along with the crankcase breather.

Pollen filter is due at every service, brake fluid is due every 2 years etc so you would need to know what service your car needs to price it accurately.

The cheap fixed price services can only really apply to older generation cars that get oil/air/plugs every 10k

Thanks for the replies. To be honest more I'm interested in recommendations of independent garages in the Dublin area than knowing the specific price I should be paying in advance (even if I did ask both questions in 1 post).

I do realise price depends on the car & service history (which I can get later) however I thought a ballpark figure based on the list of items included in the linked example given would be a good starting point for posters to work from.

Well that list is just basic items that would (read should) be looked at in every service.

The haven't mentioned checking all suspension/transmission componants, brake disk thickness, brake lines, rear shoes/cylinders, coolant strength, coolant pressure test, brake fluid test, tyres, wheel alignment etc etc
