More fool me for not checking it at the time. Thanks sweetie, I had a look, there seems to be a decent discount on refurbs, will they get cheaper when ipad2 comes out ?

You could get a good second hand one in the next few weeks for a good price especially with the iPad 2 coming out soon.

Has anyone tried the new Flash Video Discover browser?

It seems to get pretty mixed reviews but it's doing ok in the sales charts despite being 7.99.

EDIT: well I couldn't wait and bought it. So far nothing flash based I've tried with it has worked.
    Sigh :(

It's not in ireland. It's murdoch's latest attempt at paid news.

It's in the american store, and is free for the time being, probably until they sort out the subscription fees apple want.

RTE Newsnow App for the IPAD now available on the AppStore, just installed and about to watch the debate.

Live video is very good! No buffering
yup, and not blocked abroad neither (which can never be taken for granted!!)

pity the rest of the rte output on the site videowise is still non i-pad friendly.

    EDIT:
just thought I'd add one here, a tv guide for uk tv for the iPad BUT is editable to customize the channels to what you have, and includes all the irish channel's schedules

the implementation is spot on, and its pretty nifty once you have it setup with your personal channel selection

Another fan of TV Guide here :)
Also, I agree the RTÉ News app is great, just wish they would optimise the rest of their streaming (i.e. the RTÉ (international) player) for the iPad

is there an rte guide ipad app?

Er, no, no RTE Guide that I'm aware of :)

I was saying I'm a fan of the UK 'TV Guide' app that you linked to. I live in the UK and that was one of the first apps I installed on my iPad.

    grrrrr
I think my brain is fried!

Anyhow, if RTE have 2 ipad apps on the go, at least we know that the knowledge is in there to expand the service further to maybe a HTML 5 rte player that works on the ipad?

They say here its "in the pipeline".

    Hi All,
If anyone's looking for 2 months off a vpn deal, use this Blackvpn referral code if you like HBRZWNU. Feel free to pass it around.
    Ta.

Yeah but I mean from within the app itself, so you can output the audio while using it.

ISwifter is a free, flash compatible browser that actually works. It gives unrestricted access to YouTube and to Hulu and all US network TV sites that I've tried WITHOUT need for a VPN.I'm sure it does more too.

It also gives International RTE player which unfortunately is geo- restricted and doesn't allow content not made by rte but you can find that elsewhere.

It's categorized as a game on iTunes btw.
