The Westboro baptists are up to their old tricks and have issued a challenge to Anonymous.

This is their message to Anonymous.

They're obviously dumber than i thought.

They are master maniplators of the media, if their sites get hacked it'll make the news, and exposure is not something they should be getting, so they're definitely smarter than you think.

On the other hand, its always nice to see such hate-filled people get some non-violent retribution for their vitriol, so I'm a little on the fence about this.

Anonymous are crap, they knock down a site for 5-10min by denial of service and that's it. Their latest escapades include knocking over a card stand and subscribing to some YouTube 11 year old dudes account and then unsubscribing to hurt his feelings.

To not attack Westboro Baptist Church for fear of giving them free publicity is a ridiculous stance to adopt, that rationale puts them beyond fear of attack.Love,hate, or just not care about Anonymous - but know that they are capable of bloodying Phelps' nose and the world wants to see that blood. WBC certainly are master manipulators of the media and know what buttons they need to press to make the world gasp in horror, but Anonymous have a few skills of their own,they probably won't finish him off, but it's a fight I'm looking forward to watching ...

Phelps wants publicity, has openly admitted to manipulating the media, even does so in the OP's link. It's the only reason we still talk about him and his church. If the world had ignored him, they'd still be a tiny group, now they're a household name.

And they shouldn't fear attack, they have a right to say what they want. I don't like it any more than you, but they have a right to free speech without reprisal. It's up to the rest of the world not to listen.

The best way to deal with hatred of that kind, if you can't ignore, is to ridicule, because it takes away the rhetoric and leaves only the absurdity. This is how it's done

Read up on the HB Gary stuff that Anonymous did. It involved some real hacking, along with a lot of social engineering and exposed what the American government are currently doing re: social media and the like. It's amazingly interesting.

Frankly, anonymous are a pretty pointless group. Sure they do good stuff once in a while, but what they actually get done in most instances is just stupid, between attacking little kids and fighting over porn.
