I'd recommend this guy in a heart beat. We designed our ring, picked the diamond, and he made it. Took about 6 weeks, sent over with DHL. Got it apraised in G Clrke Jewellers 3 days ago, and she said it's worth twice what we paid for it.

I got my fiance engagement ring in R & C McCormacks at the top of Grafton street. Great selection of Platinum rings in d/e/f classes

Hey all, I'm jumping on this thread a little late bit I thought I'd share my thoughts! I know cost is obviously a really big deal at the moment but it is nice to but Irish if you can. At the moment there is a lot of talk of buying online or heading up North but for me I think the quality of the design is really important and the idea of having a unique, Irish-made ring, is ideal. I'm currently getting my ring designed in Designyard and so far the experience is really positive. I don't have a huge budget but the staff understand that and as I am having my ring designed practically from scratch they are working within my budget. There were a few high end highstreet jewellers I went to and ended up getting really frustrated. You tell them your budget and they tend to ignore it and try and push you to spend more. Not my cup of tea! Anyway, check out Designyard if you're just beginning your search. Their website is ok but I found when I went into the shop there was a lot more on offer with a budget to suit everyone!

    www.designyard.ie

We have had this at the back of our mind to buy irish while planning our wedding alright. I know it may be costing a bit more to buy in Ireland but its a buyers market right now and business' are far quicker to give a good deal now.

Is there much to be saved at the wedding fairs that are on?

What do people think about palladium for a gents wedding ring? It seems to be a lot cheaper that platinum and harder-wearing that white gold. Any opinions please?

Got a great deal on wedding bands in Chapelle jewellers in The Outlet in Banbridge. The rings worked were less than half the price of identical rings in high street jewellers in the south.

There was a jewellery manufacturer exhibiting at the last citywest wedding show. I don't remember much about them, their name was "..... & sons" or "...brothers". As far as I remember the guy we were speaking to was called mark and they were located on or near the quays in dublin.

Very vague I know but any help in finding them would be appreciated.

Does anyone know anything about Palladium or titanium wedding bands? I have a white gold engagement ring and I'm afraid if I mix the metals one of them will scratch.

The general rule is that you shouldn't mix the metals... I bought my wife a platinum ring when we got engaged and all the jewellers bar one who just wanted to make a sale advised that you definitely shouldn't mix metals. The harder metal will scatch the softer one over time. Stick to you white gold.

Palladium isn't an alloy - It's on the periodic table! Went with the palladium in the end and very happy with it. 90% the strength of platinum and half the price. White gold stratches over time and rings will need to be re-plated. I can see their popularity increasing...

Has anyone here actually used goldenmine.com? I'm looking for my wedding band and I'm getting quoted wildly different prices in Dublin (and Letterkenny)

All I want is a 9k 5mm Court Shape yellow gold ring.

This site seems to have exactly the type of ring I want but at 14k and only $219USD!

Has anyone had any experience with them?

    cheers

    Try here instead - http://www.weddingrings-direct.com/show_sub_cat/wedding_rings_in_the_traditional_court_profile/80/1/

The prices are comparable and you won't get stung by customs.

Got my wife's engagement ring and wedding ring here.

    http://irishrubies.ie/

Its an old not very fancy shop but the prices are great compared to the more fancy shops around town.

Got my wedding ring in Michael Perry in the Powerscourt centre, he's great for titanium/tungsten type rings

We bought our engagement rings from www.voltairediamonds.ie i'm delighted with the ring, a beauty........not bias or anything ;) Very informative and helpful, would recommend it to anyone, very competitive, had tried galway and athlone, much better value..............

I've just been comparing the prices of plain 18k gold wedding bands in the current Argos catalogue and was surprised to find they are better than any I can find online.
    Anyone find anywhere cheaper recently?

I too would like feedback on Goldenmine.com. There is a ring there I want to buy. Customs are factored into the price. Anyone purchased from them?

To get a ring made I can't recommend Patrick Glynn Jewellers on Abbey St enough. I spotted the name because another poster had mentioned it somewhere on Boards. I designed my own engagement ring and he made it exactly how I'd asked and within my budget. He was lovely to deal with and I learned loads.

There's no website but you can call on 01 8733866.

I have seen other post with this name but I have to say that I have been very satisfied by my engagement ring. The shop is not on the street but quite amazing and in an old fashion way.
I could get exactly what I wanted and not to mention that the prices are unbeatable. Will definitely come back for the wedding one...

Wow, this thread started a long time ago. See reference to West on Grafton Street which is closed nearly two yeras now. With the price of metal going up and set to continue I would advise people to act sooner rather than later on their purchase decision. Let Google be your friend for the search, leads of jewellers out there.

    Hi all,

Has anybody had any experiences with Tower Jewellers in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre?

We saw wedding rings we really liked but we both want to be 100% happy with the shops reputation before we buy something so important.

    Cheers

Hi all, has anyone had any dealings over ebay with wedding rings? I see some good looking rings and prices, curious as to pros and cons (particular to wedding bands, that is!)

    Recommend any sellers?

Probably the most frustrating website I have ever been on.

I agree theChevron, very frustrating... I'm a proud wearer of few of their pieces and unlike the website, the design and quality of Heltzel's jewellery are impeccable :)

Would anyone know if it's possible to add some diamonds I already have to my wedding ring? Would it be very expensive? Could anyone recommend someone in Munster area?

My ring is solid, maybe 3mm wide, palladium and was made to fit around my engagement ring, a .50 pear cut - at the time I couldn't afford diamonds and it never occurred to me to use what I already have.
I own two rings (given by my now husband through the years, one probably .25 round cut and one ring with 3 smaller round cut - probably 3/4 of the .25 one)
I never wear them as I can't stand wearing lots of rings, so they are only going to waste and I don't really want to have an eternity ring (my fingers are small and three rings would be very uncomfortable) and thought adding the diamonds to the wedding would be the same as having an eternity ring... Just an idea I'm throwing about?
