okay you obviously didn't look at the documentary about a year ago on channel four - following an english women trying to get into the industry. it was HORRENDOUS. so degrading. you could literally see her self esteem and respect disintegrate in front of your eyes. the vulchers around her were complete PIGs. it's was really upsetting. she ended up leaving it extremely traumatised.

wish i remembered the name of that doc. i think people should watch it before they think twice about watching that stuff ever again. seriously. if OP remember the name, will you post it???

Seen as you watched this HORRENDOUS programme can you let me know WHY she out of her own accord decided to get into the industry? I genuinely want to know what made her get into it?

I always love the arguments against porn from feminists.

    "it's so degrading!"
    "The industry is horrible"
"How would you feel if you knew the person"

Let's face it, the reason you object is because your husband/boyfriend/guy-you-fancy are **** over the image of another woman and not you.

no, I've always been against it. when i'm single or with someone, so that makes no difference.

FYI i wouldn't stay with a guy if he insisted on watching porn. that evidences my strength as a woman actually (who won't put up with something if i'm not comfortable with it.) it does not reflect badly on me at all. i have standards and i live by them.

That was the first post I mentioned educational qualifications, so I have no idea why you think I "keep referring" to them...

Apologies it was another poster who referred to the same thing earlier.

The point is that these are examples of qualified women who choose to stay in porn. They have qualifications, they can do a "real" job, but they choose to do this..

...and? Lot's of people who have qualifications to do "real" jobs, choose to do all sorts of crazy shít. Does that legitimise what they end up doing? If some porn performers choose to do it or whatever fine. That has no bearing whatsoever on my opinion of porn in general. The other stuff was countering the usual nonsense that gets trotted out on every porn thread. They're all rolling in dough and delighted.....

You also have no idea of their background, their mental state, financial state, health etc, but you're the one saying that the industry is somehow 'wrong'.

Yeah, silly me. Imagine having issues with an industry where one of the actors turned directors acknowledges how many girls get 'used up' and spat back out in months by the industry. What a star lifestyle. Can't imagine anyone not enjoying it.

to put it bluntly - she had one the lowest self esteems i've ever seen, was broke and thought it was a viable way to make money - and - quite frankly - was a little unstable... find it. honestly. it was extremely interesting.

Have you seen what an actress can go through when they're trying to break into Hollywood? What about a junior doctor who works 100 hour weeks for consultants who couldn't give a crap about them?

you do realise you still haven't made a point? again, I find it interesting that I didn't use the word disregard or disrespect, but, again, a porn watcher easily drops it into conversation as though it's absolutely fine! it's so strange!

(i'm presuming porn watcher - if ur not, i apologise)
Actually I addressed the exact terminology you used:

Maybe you're a repressed "porn watcher" and don't realise it.

Perhaps it's to do with the promises of quick riches, success and stardom, as has been evidenced on this very thread.

disregard and disrespect was used in another discussion, not this one. ( I do of course still think this)

junior doctor is the most laughable thing i've heard in AGES. i'll have to tell that to a few i know. don't think they'll be impressed.

please don't say i'm a repressed one, i couldn't be further from it. i'm extremely non repressed, but i - as i said - have standards and live by them.

i think society woudl benefit if more people voiced their concerns about these issues, so no, i will judge people by them.

To a certain degree yes. But no one is under the same illusions about acting, or football, or music as about porn it seems. Not all actors are wealthy stars, even those actors who take a happy smiling picture and seemingly have a perfect life are happy. Not all footballers are wealthy stars. However, bring up porn, and sure they are all pornSTARS making loads of money for doing it.

Also I don't think anyone has actually answered the questions that were asked earlier about poster's sisters/brothers/gf's/bf's going into porn and what people would think? Except for the usual 6 year old level mature responses.

I don't know. There is no magic solution. I was just showing some of the reasons why it isn't for me. If you want to go home tonight and spend 6 hours on the net looking at porn be my guest again not trying to impose anything on anyone. My only wish would be for people to be upfront and honest about the industry's pros and cons and actually weigh up the positives and negatives seriously. Then sit down to watch porn again and see if your attitude has changed any.

Most people just don't like to think about the realities of it and act as if having sex with 900+ men in one day is some sort of positive achievement or role model we should all be encouraged by.

to the person who asked, i used to watch a lot of porn. i don't anymore, now that i've done some research.

it's puzzling that no one will give a serious answer to the question of how porn lovers would feel about their wives, sisters or daughters getting into this industry.

and i'm a newbie, but i know that the charter of this forum acknowledges that serious discussions do happen and are welcome as long as they're civil.
