Come on, learn to read the news. The article was saying the up to BEUR 132 was borrowed from ECB by banks operating in Ireland. However it also said that only 66% of the amount was borrowed by the domestic ones. The rest was borrowed by the foreign-owned banks. These foreign banks all have established entities here. The entities also borrow as they also need money to support their operations in Ireland, i.e. giving mortgages, loans, support current accounts, etc.

how about do the maths, where you get 16 billion too run services and 50 billion

I just find the whole thing bizarre; the supporters in the thread can't defend them and must be aware of the weakness in their position, and yet are still going to go out and vote for them.

they cant as cant the sf party,sf will always if they last as a party in back benches, good place for them

Yes but whoever it is will be defaulting, so if they say different they are not being honest. Non of them go far enough as far as I'm concerned but the closest I can find is SF, and it galls me to say that, for many reasons

if sf comes in next election ,hopefully they learn from this one,as there policys dont work ,figures dont work,so sf manifesto not worth the paper its written on

i would like to give a wee anology, lets presume the country is a bus after the election f.g will be driving the bus so sinn fein dont have to say where the 15 billion is going to come from (for all yous claiming to be mathematical genius surely you can add up all the sinn fein candiates and realise even if they where all elected they couldnt make up the next goverment) as they will be sitting down the back. but your mate enda will be driving . the bus is already heading for the cliff and in a year at the very most two when we come to the cliff and enda puts his foot on the brake he will realise the pedal is missing (sure he gave that to the ecb) so he tries to steer away and finds the steering wheel is gone (wouldnt believe it the fcuking imf have that)

So, to continue your analogy, it's ok for Sinn Fein to pretend they know where FG should be driving the bus, but in reality they haven't a clue? Instead, they just criticise wherever Enda goes, pretending that they know the way to paradise?

Well fewer people are terrified of the idea of FG, and FG have fewer blind fanatical supporters :)

There is a thread there already though.

Please don’t mix the EU and ECB (The Euro zone) up. These are 2 separate organizations. I want Ireland to be a part of the EU, but not a part of the Euro zone, we should be like Sweden, Denmark, UK, etc.

Since 1 January 1999, the krone has been part of the ERM II mechanism, under which it is required to trade within a 2.25% either side of a specified rate of €1 = DKK 7.46038 ... However, the exchange rate has kept within 0.5% of the defined rate, even less than the set limits

Sweden joined the European Union in 1995 and its accession treaty obliged it to join the euro.
    they haven't joined yet

I will vote shin fein because the we opposed to the bank bail out.

and because they are not Fianna Fail, Fine Gael or labour.

Sinn Féin voted for the Bank Guarantee. They've been trying to distance themselves from that for the last 2 and a half years but the fact remains they voted for it.

Possibly because he does care how we fill the €15,000,000,000 funding gap that SF can't explain, and doesn't want to see pensioners and those on the dole penniless? :)

I'd wager a lot of swing voters watching Martin's quip to Adams tonight will drift from FF to SF.
    LOL

The big question in this election is how most of the undecideds will split their vote between FG and labour.

FF will pickup a little over the polls on local politics.

Once again economics is avoided. Several times on this thread I have asked SF supporters to explain to me how the economic policies of SF can work seeing as they are obviously convinced they can work (cos why else would you vote for them). Every time they ignore the economics and go off on the same tangent as Doherty et al when they are asked these same questions. Clearly no one believes SFs policy can work (not even Doherty) and they will only do more damage to the economy.

Oh Dear, Oh Dear. There are none so blind as they that don't want to see!!!
