If you registered with USI or a USI affiliated SU and you are not on the register I'd recommend you contact your SU and check what happened.

I dont know if the TCD SU is affiliated, I take little interest in college politics tbh. I was just reading the thread and saw that so i thought i would ask. But it sounds like that is what may have happened.

I have started a thread in TCD forum anyway so thanks for the reply.

fingers crossed DCU this year. USI always seem toothless to me...do they have student's interests at heart or is it just career progression for the heads. Student Unions are going to have to get more proactive over the coming years. Can you see USI as it is having any cohesive strategy for the challenges for students in the years to come?

This cock up with voter registration should be investigated!!!

How many students were affected and from which colleges? Have they been informed?

I think USI dis-enfranchising student voters is not a frivolous matter! :mad:

Was this the first year the USI did this? It certainly looks like a great idea.

I agree it appears to be an a facetious reason to discount the registrations, thankfully common sense won out in the form of the Appeals Court accepting their registration.

TCD SU are affiliated to the USI- ex-Deputy President Conan O Broin was TCDSU President last year.

Gary "Vote Fianna Fail for Jobs" Redmond was re-elected president of the USI with 92% of the vote. Those votes came not from students by the way, but from full time sabbatical officers.

I presume he was unopposed. If SU officers voted for him, there will be no moves to disaffiliate as it is SU officers that drive such moves.
