Around the time of the Renaissance in Italy. Dunno why.. Ezio Auditore da Firenze made it look pretty cool though.

    Interesting question OP.

Ireland from 1916 'till 1949 would be my top one - so much happening in that timeframe that shaped this country to the present day.

Others include, in London with the threat of the Armada looming in 1588, Vietnam during 1968 (especially at Khe Sanh airbase), Berlin 1945 during the Russian attack, Rome in May 1527 - the Sack of the city.

From AD00 to AD32ish in the Middle East would be an exciting time no doubt.

But yeah, Ireland in those times mentioned would be interesting to live in.

I would LOVE to live in the time of the gaels in ireland. When breton law still ruled and you were part of a clan, inherited from a dynasty which they can trace back to the Tuatha Dé Danann

The way they lived fascinates me. Anywhere from 500BC to 1000AD would be brilliant.

I want to meet this Niall Noigeallach fella (Translation: Niall of the nine hostages) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niall_of_the_Nine_Hostages..

or Conn Cétchathach (conn of the hundred battles)

    OR!

in 16th century ireland as a pirate in Grainne Mhaols army.

    :)

I'd love to be a Pharoah in ancient egypt.

Bring a few poles in the machine with me to build my 500ft gold statue.

Sometime shortly after the American Civil War and before WWI, the world up for grabs me hearties. Who needs pirates when you could sail on the coat tails of the likes of Cecil Rhodes ?

I know it sounds rather un PC but feck it, the world was un PC back then.

I havent actually played it yet I'm ashamed to say, I did just watch True Grit though :pac:

you're right about the 50's if Mad Men has taught me anything is that men were fcuking awesome back then, Don Draper ftw :D

Its a real shame men dont wear suits and hats anymore like they did back then, you can get away with it when you're old, but damn it'd be cool to be out on the town in a natty suit and fedora.

Go for it. I wish there was more suited-man eye candy around Dublin ;):D

In one of the South American civilisations 200 years before the Spanish and Portuguese arrive.

    I would be a God.

Or a special sacrifice to the Gods :pac:

If there was one time or place in history that you could choose to live in for a while, where and when would it be?
For me it'd have to be America in the Old West, disease and non existant dental care aside, how cool would that be? Roaming around on horseback, big duster jackets, settlin' arguments with a gunfight, playing poker in saloons, all that stuff.

    ?

Piratey times do be temptin' matey, but I'd love to live in the Wild West but with steampunk gadgets!

If I was 13 in 1969, the peak of the Skinhead era that'd be mint. I'd be 20 when the revival came round with 2-tone, with the added bonus of some punk. The clothes, the music-Toots and the Maytals, Desmond Dekker, Black Uhuru, the Specials, the Clash.....lead me on to the fill the 1980's with the Smiths and lonliness.

    Sigh.......

like Wild Wild West, but not so sh1t.

The 20's would have been class too, in Chicago at the height of the Capone era, snappy suits, tommy guns, runnin' suds on the side and laughing in the face of John Law, dancing the Charleston in underground hooch parlours with some fine dames. fcuk yeah

Interesting period and no fecking tourists hanging around Temple Bar back then either :pac:

There was. They were just in uniform ;)

To answer the question, I'm much more interested in seeing how places have evolved rather than historical or social change, so for that reason, I'd love to visit my neighbourhood in North County Dublin at pretty much anytime pre-1960 to see how it has evolved. Same goes with Dublin itself. I think it would be amazing to walk around Viking era Dublin and try to recognise the streets.

In the same regard, I'd love to walk around Calgary 130 years ago as it was just being settled.

Any time would be great if you're loaded.

    Roman Times
    The roaring 20's
    The Swinging 60's

Being a slave, a peasant or a black man during these epochs would have sucked.

Defiantly southern Europe during the Mesolithic say around 9,000 BC.
Lovely climate, plenty of food, very few people competing for resources (hence a very peaceful life).
Wandering from lovely camping spot to lovely camping spot with family and friends, what more could you want. :D
