I am using an 8GB SD HC 2 card. I have used it plenty of times in the past to load images onto my Mac osx but for some reason today it is saying "the disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.

It's never happened before and all of a sudden I can't use this card to retrieve files, for reasons which I just don't know.

    Any pointers please?

did you format the card before first usage? .... the computer seems to be reading that the card is not formatted.

Your PC's memory card reader is probably not SD HC 2 compatible.

It should be formatted in FAT32 which OS X should read.
Open the Disk Utility and see if you can run the first aid tool on it.

Also to eliminate the Mac try the card on a different machine and try a different card in the Mac.
