Do you remember how you felt when you left home for the first time?

I was delighted to leave for England at 16, you know how when you're young you don't worry what'll go wrong etc.....and so that thrill of going is something I haven't really had any time I've moved around the world after that.

Well the first time I moved out of my parents house, I moved in with my boyfriend and his mother and brother. And although I love his mother, living with your mother in law (okay, not technically mother in law, but other half's mother) is just pure hell! Never again. Ever. He wants me to move back there this summer but f*ck that.

Moved to the other end of the country at 20 for work. It was great! I could come and go as I pleased, nobody to have to drive around and worry about, plenty of free time in the evening to do my own thing. My work situation meant I worked 6 days a week, so wasn't able to come home that often.

It was like Nelson Mandela...Free at Last!

(Only kidding, but after a couple of years of feeling responsible for your immediate family, having freedom to do my own thing was great...though I still visit regularly now...closer now, so it's no bother)

I'm terrible, never missed anything except when I was sick (I missed being looked after, the pity and concern, and being served:p). I also missed my dog more than anyone (pity I'm back at home, then!)

    Missed my dog too! :(

I was very glad to get out of my house. 18 years under my very over protective mother that usually never allowed me to do anything exciting unless I was out with friends and didn't know what I was doing, no public transport. I was absolutely delighted to move out on my own. First in student residences, but since then I've moved out on my own and its brilliant!

I was actually a bit sad for about an hour. Then I started drinking.
