Minor HTC Desire issues

I'm wondering if anyone has come across these (what are probably) very dumb fixable issues.

First of all, is there any way to turn off the headset controls? I can't find a way to stop the controls from starting the music app whenever I accidentally hit it, even if I'm listening to media on some other app.

Also, my screen is prone to turning itself on quite often late at night. It's usually charging so it's possible it's connected to battery reaching 100% but I need to leave it plugged in so it's full of juice in the morning. Anyone know a solution to make sure the screen can only be turned on by only for a limited set of apps/functions?

For the button issue, try Headset Blocker. Or, of course, just use a pair of headphones that don't have any buttons on them -- they'll almost certainly sound better anyway :)

Cheers, will have a look at that.

I recently broke my normal headphones and am waiting to splash out and get a decent pair which I need to research.

That's why I'm stuck with the horrible HTC ones for now.

Yeah, I don't understand why they bundled such naff headphones with such a nice phone. The sound quality actually isn't bad considering how cheap they are, but the build quality and comfort level is pretty rubbish -- my first pair disintegrated within a few weeks, and I bought a new pair off eBay for about a tenner.

Big problem with replacement headphones for me is that, to the best of my knowledge, there are none out there with the same buttons (back, next, and play/pause/answer) that actually work with the Desire. I think there are some Bluetooth options that do it, but I prefer wired.

Slightly tangential as I don't think it'll help with your issue, but the Headset Volume Controller widget by Florian Dorn works well with the Desire headphones, too -- turns the headphone back/next buttons into media volume up/down buttons, which is invaluable for me. (They still work as back/next buttons while playback is paused.)

    This sounds ideal. Cheers.
