I did my leaving cert ten years ago this summer. I was reading recently about exam cheating I can't remember cheating but u can't remember not cheating. I did stuff around that time I'm not proud of but I hope I didn't cheat on exams. I got exactly the points I needed. I can remember very little of the exams. Any thought appreciated. Thanks

He wants to know if you can remember did he cheat in the leaving cert. I'm amazed he remembered you were in his class if he can't remember if he cheated!

Did you pass English? If so, I'm guessing you cheated.

Even if you did cheat, I think your ability is so apparent that it won't make any difference to how people see you.

How are we supposed to know? What's your memory like? What do you remember about yesterday for example?

Yes, and pretty clearly. It's not like your supressing flashbacks of your time in 'Nam.

One thing that didn't happen and I specifically remember that I didn't not cheat.

Everyone cheats. I remember reading and memorising formulas, having no idea at the time how or why they worked, and just putting them down on paper the following day. Same for Irish, I learned poems having no idea what the hell they were about or even meant.

The thought police are now walking up your drive as I type.

    What was the question again?

It doesn't really matter if you did or you didn't. What matters is that we all got cheated even if we did do well in school/college

OP, you should take a lesson in punctuation, and don't cheat!

You’ve got to be kidding me. I’ve been further even more decided to use even go need to do look more as anyone can. Can you really be far even as decided half as much to use go wish for that? My guess is that when one really been far even as decided once to use even go want, it is then that he has really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like. It’s just common sense.

This topic was dealt with many moons ago. As I remember it, ' somebody messed up and said the N word out loud too many times' and the cheating SOB got off scot free.
That's all I have to say.

The only thing wrong about cheating an exam is the nerd that rats you out.

In the mocks once, for chemistry, I had a chemical equation barely visible written in pencil on the page with the periodic table, thats as bad as my cheating ever got, I think one of the teachers supervising knew well as I was right in front of their desk, but they didn't care.

Now, for the worst case of cheating I ever witnessed, Final Year college, there was a lad supposedly cheating in of the exams. Anyways, I was in one exam with him, and I noticed a load of people whispering and the exam supervisor was there too, so looked about, and the buck had been caught with a load of notes, which he had crumpled up under his jacket, removed them, placed them on the desk and started copying stuff down.

The supervisor spotted him straight away, but he was only a student himself and just took the notes, the cheater begged him not to turn him in. The supervisor probably didn't want the hassle of it.

Was that not what we were supposed to do??

I'm a college invigilator myself, and that's not all that happens. In the hall itself it's just important not to make a scene, and to try to minimise the disturbance to other people's exams, so all you do is take the notes. The invigilators will have a hub area where scripts are sorted, and there his script would have been separated from the rest, a note written to the examiner, and the "cheat" notes attached to the script. How high the case goes will be up to the department then, since they can make a better call than we can on how severe the cheating was. Punishments would range from minor (paper graded on pass/fail basis maybe), to very severe (kicked out of college, stripped of previously held degrees). I just wanted to point all this out in case some genius reading the thread thinks that there's no punishment if you're caught cheating in college, and decides to push their luck (although these people do make my Januaries and Mays very interesting).
